If you are wanting to tell the user the format mask,ie:
'YOU MUST ENTER THE DATE AS DDMMYY'
try putting the format mask in the HINT or COMMENT
value of the item. Then
use GET_ITEM_PROPERTY to retreive that text string
and display it to the user.
I am pretty sure you can get the HINT value, but I am not
sure of the COMMENTS value, you will have to check.
