We were using the MKS RCS package in its earlier form. It did simple
version control. Unfortunately, we had problems with support from
MKS. It seemed that every time we had a problem, their only solution
was to "give" us a patch in the form of the next version. Did I
mention that the next version was offered at the low, low price of
full retail price?
We moved to Visual SourceSafe and are very happy with it. It seems to to well on all file types (binary, text). The only thing I would like to see improve (and maybe it is on the books to be improved?) is merging. Here, I feel there is a bit of room for improvement. If simple version control is what you're needing, MS Visual SourceSafe.
