If anyone can solve this for me I would greatly appreciated it:

I am using Oracle 7.3 on a NT4.0 Server Machine. I downloaded the latest ODBC drivers from Oracle 1.16.3.1.5 using SQL*NET 2.3.2.1.0.

I am having a heck of a time trying to connect via ODBC. I have tested the connection using SQL*Plus to make sure the TNS names are correct and it works fine. However when running the ODBC test that came with the download (I also downloaded two other ODBC check programs from Oracle) and got the same message everytime:

Using ORCL and Scott, Tiger

SQLSTATE: 08003
Native Error Code:0
[Quoted] Driver Message:[Oracle][ODBC Oracle Driver]Connection not open.

SQLSTATE: 01000
Native Error Code:0
Driver Message:[Microsoft][ODBC DriverManager] The driver returned invalid (or failed to return) SQL_DRIVER_ODBC_VER: %s

what the heck is going on?

I checked the Oracle page many, many times for troubleshooting on ODBC and even tried with TNS:ORCL, but no go.

However, using a 16-bit application (WINTALK) to connect to the Oracle ODBC did work. Also using the Visigenic Oracle 32-bit drivers worked for allowing an ODBC connect from ODBC test to 7.3(however this driver required ORANT71.dll and was designed for 7.0, 7.1 but still doesn't completely solve my problem for 7.3).

I am running around in circles here. I would like to use the ODBC drivers that ORACLE supports. From reading posts from this group I know that some people have successfully got the ODBC portion to work. So I know there is a solution to this. Received on Sun Feb 23 1997 - 00:00:00 CET
