You asked if there is an easier way to display information in a tabular format.
Have you tried using the Records Displayed property of your block? Set this to the number of records that you want to display.

Is there a simple(r) way to build matrix type forms in 4.5?
I need to display multiple rows in a table across the screen, and allow user to insert, update , delete etc.
At the moment we use non Database fields and have to loop through all the fields and issue appropriate DML statements.
