At my company we have many Forms 3.0 applications developped and shipped to our customers.

  • Forms 3.0 runs fine against a 7.3 database
  • Oracle however does not ship Forms 3.0 anymore with the 7.3 database
  • In order to make it work you need to use SQL*Net between Forms 3.0 and the Oracle 7.3 database.
  • You will need to install Forms 3.0 in a different ORACLE_HOME. Do NOT install Forms 3.0 in the same ORACLE_HOME tree as your 7.3 database.!!!!

Conclusion:
Forms 3.0 works fine wiht a 7.3 database as long as you use SQL*Net to connect to the 7.3 database !!!.
