[Quoted]  Hello All,

[Quoted]  Platform : 4.2 Dynix on Sequent SE 80.  RDBMS : Oracle 7.3.2.3

 Problem :

[Quoted]  We are in the process of creating a 700G + database on the above setup.  The system contains raw devices of 1 G, 2 G, 3 G, 4 G, 5 G, 6 G, 8 G , 13  G and 15 g file sizes.

Please see the table below and the problem is self-evident.

Concatenated File Size Creatable Size Comment
 /Striped in Mb

 Both 1 G	999
 Striped 2 G	1999
 Striped 3 G	2047 2048 - 1
 Concatenated 4 G	2047 2048 -1
 Both 5 G	4999
 Striped 6 G	5999
 Concatenated 8 G	6143 3 * 2048 -1
 Striped 13 G	12999
 Striped 15 G	14335 7 * 2048 -1

[Quoted]  For some reason, we are unable to create 2999m, 3999m, 7999m,  14999m on 3G, 4G, 8G and 15 G raw devices respectively.

[Quoted]  Your inputs will be greatly appreciated.

[Quoted] Looking forward to your inputs.

 Sincerely yours
