I don't think boilerplate properties can be accessed at run-time (Somebody tell me if I am wrong). Instead, you can use a 'DISPLAY ITEM' (one that has 'abc' with a gray background on the the toolbar in canvas window) and manipulate its properties (like underline, bold and many more) at run-time.
