NetApp SnapMirror interface with Oracle

We are a small installation that has a single standalone database that we want to replicate to a remote site. We currently use ASM for our data storage on a direct attached array. We are considering a switch to SAN with NetApp.

Does SnapMirror work well replicating Oracle to a remote site? From reading it sounds like it can all happen while the parent database is up and running. Is this true? Does it work under the covers and move data blocks instead of database files?

Also, we only want to replicate certain schemas in the database because others are so huge that data transfer would be too slow. Is it possible to replicate only some of the database?

Any help on this and overall impressions of NetApp with Oracle would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
