The same can be said for software developers. "User: Hi Joe, there is a problem with your application. Joe: Wait, let me fix that... there, done! User: Oh my god, you already fixed that? You're a great developer, I will sure mention this to your boss!". So you see, an application with lots of bugs to fix is better for the visibility of the software developer :-)
