Just thinking out loud here, haven't tried it, may not have thought it through.

Perhaps you can put this table in its own tablespace, and take it offline.
Perhaps you can use the transportable tablespace option to move it away from the db, then reattach it after export. Perhaps you can use the transportable tablespace option on everything except for the archived table.

I would tend to put archived table in their own tablespace anyways, so that's why I think of these things. But I've wound up keeping everything live in this century, so I haven't dealt with this for a while. I keep thinking about it though, whenever I find something full scanning, including some silly cube-generation stuff.
