RMAN-06031: could not translate database keyword during rman backup/restore

Hi all, following you suggestions I'm trying to do db backup/restore with rman

I executed:

RMAN>shutdown immediate
RMAN>startup mount
RMAN>backup database;
RMAN>sql ’alter database open’;
RMAN>restore database;

Starting restore at 19-SEP-08
using channel ORA_DISK_1
RMAN-00571:

RMAN-03002: failure of restore command at 09/19/2008 10:14:49
RMAN-20021: database not set
RMAN-06031: could not translate database keyword

What I'm doing wrong?
