Hi,

We are planning to implement Oracle 10.2.0.4 on AIX 5.3 with HACMP but without RAC. The HACMP configuration will be active/passive.

The general idea is that the database will reside on shared EMC SAN, but the Oracle binaries will be installed separately on both nodes. If the instance on one node fails, the instance on the other node will mount, recover and open the database.

I have Googled, and researched the Oracle and IBM documentation, but am still confused. Do we need to install Oracle Clusterware? Are there any other considerations? Is there a cookbook?

I'm a competent Oracle DBA and have reasonable experience with AIX, but no knowledge of HACMP. Can anyone offer advice?

Thanks.
