I have the same problem too but i'm using SQL Developer and it says error 4 (something related to ArrayOutofBoundsException in the stack). I just wonder If i can connect to my Oracle 8.1.7 had i installed another client (let it be 10gR2 client which supports 8.1.7) on top of my 11g client and use the tools in the 11g client to access the 8.1.7 server?
