This is an unsupported version of it. No support from Oracle. If it's any consolation, I am running 11G RAC/ASM on CentOS 5.2. Works like a charm.

Hmmm, you can't access control file. From what you wrote a little bit later, it is not lost, it is only inaccessible. Many things can cause this. What kind of storage are you using? If it's NAS, are you sure that you've used the right storage options? As I have said before, I am available for consulting. Contact me by email if you need more information.
