I recently installed Oracle 8i on my Sun Ultra 10. I know it's an old
version but I'm wanting to get some practice with using Oracle on a
Sparc machine. One of the mysteries I can't figure out is, a book I'm
using as a guide says that I should have a file ORATAB created during
installation by root.sh. It says this file is used in starting the
database automatically on boot. It contains ORACLE_SID:ORACLE_HOME:(Y/
N) but I can't find the file anywhere. Is anybody familiar with this
file and where it should be located? Can I create it manually?
