For those of you using google and Internet Explorer (spit), and are having extra spam links show up when you search for things, and all the anti-spyware and av software aren't finding anything wrong:

Open Tools --> Internet Options --> Programs tab --> Manage add-ons

Disable anything that says "(not verified)" that you don't know what it is.

Hope this helps someone, I was surprised I couldn't find this simple answer out there. This is not dependent on google toolbar.
