Hi all,

As a temporary measure I need to install Oracle 10G onto the same Solaris server as an existing 9i Instance (the server is powerful enough to handle this load).

I've never actually done this before but I propose to install into a second Oracle Home (same unix user) and then switch environmental parameters (SID etc) using unix scripts.

One thing I just want to clarify. The current Oracle DB is running on default port 1521. When I'm installing 10G using the GUI will I have to specifiy a different port to 1521 or can they share the same one. If they can't share, what would be a good choice.

Thanks in advance
