how did you check? With V$parameter?

on windows, should be \database direcory. startup sequence of parameterfiles:

  1. file that is given as startup parameter ( startup pfile = C\.... )
  2. spfile<sid>.ora 3)spfile.ora 4)pfile<sid>.ora
