Sybrand I looked up the problem in the groups and found a similar problem where the person had to remove the listener file and create the listener again. that is why i did what i did. I didn't just mickeysoft it I actually realized the problem was that the listener was associated with a previous install. That problem was fixed. I did read the manuals and
I did look up the problem on metalink. I also ask question in this forum. I was taught to get as many viewpoints to a problem before i decide what to do. If you don't want to answer or help then don't. Yes i am learning and i learn by reading and then doing to get a better understanding.
