SAP uses something called SAP DB which is a OO database. It is used
internally in some of SAP products such
as APO. SAP had given this database to open source..
Many years ago I worked with Versant OODBMS http://www.versant.com. I
think they are still in business.
Relational databases have very few data types. OO database support
many more data types, but they cannot compete with releational
database.
