In real world of ERP's and pacakged applications, you do not have access to source code, cannot tune sql statements Even when you can tune sql satements, memory can still reduce disk i/ o. People who talk about main memory databases or real time databases (Oracle's ten time ?) are not stupid.

I support a EMC Documentum based Oracle databases. we have no access to source code, I found memory and outln techniques to be life saver. Received on Fri Apr 20 2007 - 06:40:51 CDT
