The dir to be scanned is on the server. The idea to run a "client program" on the server to let the others issue operating system commands using dbms_pipe is cool. My environment is Windows so I will have to do something like this myself, but since we are partly a PHP shop, this will not be a problem. Thanks a lot for the help!
