OK, so there is nothing listed in the Alert log. Check in the bdump (likely where you found the Alert log), cdump, and udump folders for any other trace/log files. If you still find nothing, search the hard drives for any files that have been modified in the last couple days - the files of interest that report the cause of the spontaneous crash may be in a different location from where you are checking.
