How being flat file affects networking eludes me ... but the solution is to use the following technologies:

1. Zoning
2. NIC Bonding (also known as teaming and multipathing)

Essentially you duplicate all paths to everywhere so that you can lose any switch or any NIC card or any piece of copper.

Again ... how FoxPro can protect you from losing a NIC card eludes me.
