Hi,

I've tried to install Oracle 10g on both "Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise" and "Vista ultimate", but I got error messages on both platforms toward the end of installation. The problem is that it couldn't allocate ports. It might be caused due to the use of DHCP, but I'm not sure about it. Could any one help with this? Much appreciated.

Here is my machine info and error message:

  1. AMD Athlon 64
  2. 2.5G memory
  3. 89G HD
  4. DHCP (cable modem) - this might be the problem.

Error Message:

Database Configuration Assistant: Warning

Enterprise manager configuration failed due to the following error - Failed to allocate port(s) in the specified range(s) for the following process(es): JMS [5540-5559],RMI [5520-5539],Database Control [5500-5519],EM Agent [3938] | [1830-1849]

Refer to the log file at C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\cfgtoollogs\dbca \ORCL\emConfig.log for more details.

You can retry configuring this database with Enterprise Manager later by manually running C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\bin\emca script.
