Methinks that is a new feature for 10g. Metalink Note:335851.1 shows another 10g feature, Automatic TSPITR in 10G RMAN. In an phone interview I did while sitting in my car, I kind of half-recalled that, consequently confusing the interviewers as to the minimum work it takes to restore a specific TS. I can't help but wonder if the OP is at that same place... :-)
