POSITION: Linux System Administrator

POSITION SUMMARY: Work with Oracle Financial consulting team to design, configure, execute the conference room pilot and implement a new application suite of selected Oracle Financial modules that includes; General Ledger, Accounts Payable and iExpenses, Fixed Assets, Enterprise Budgeting and Planning, Cash Management, Purchasing and iProcurement and Business Intelligence. Post implementation responsibilities will include but not be limited to; Red Hat Linux system administration which includes configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance support for OS and hardware, working with the Database Administrator to ensure a thorough and complete backup and DR process, ensure that documented security policies and procedures are adhered to, and provide suggestions and guidance to follow industry best practices that ensures a 5 9's uptime environment.

PHYSICAL
ACTIVITIES: Standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift 25 pounds.

EDUCATION: BA or BS is required, preferably in an Information Technology or Engineering curriculum. Red Hat certification is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: At least five years UNIX system administration, of which three should be in a Linux installation. Sun Solaris and Opensever 5 experience is a plus. Oracle Database Administration experience is a plus. Experience working in a PMO directed environment, on projects driven by business goals is required. Oracle Financial Application implementation experience is preferred.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES: Significant continuous experience as a Senior Red Hat Linux Systems Administrator in a large scale Linux mission-critical environment where best IT practices are followed. NAS/SAN experience a plus. Remote (network) installation, system monitoring experience. Perl and Shell scripting experience is required. Any experience with Solaris, Openserver 5 or Oracle is a plus. Experience with VERITAS products a plus. Experience designing high availability and DR solutions. Significant experience troubleshooting complicated systems problems. Experience researching and recommending technology solutions. Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills to work with clients and team members. Ability to effectively obtain, analyze and convey information. Ability to prepare, organize and present information to groups of people. Strong leadership, communication, and problem resolution skills. Proficiency with Microsoft office tool set (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Support implementation of Oracle Financial Application suite described in the Position summary above.

2.Recommend alternative solutions to operating system configurations to ensure industry best practices are followed regarding system availability, backup and security.

3.Develop key automation tools for streamlining workflow and systems management. Configure and build new Linux images for production and development use.

4.Develop and maintain procedures to comply with IT best practices.

5.Maintain documentation of systems configurations and procedures.

6.Work with other systems administration and networking team members to ensure thorough communication of Linux environment status.

7.Work with development, QA and other administrators to develop and implement improved application enhancement deployment practices.

8.Monitor the availability of patches and updates, as well as evaluate the importance to the environment and schedule installations accordingly.

9.Assist Service Desk with problem resolution and answer system usage questions.

10.Work with users to schedule application of patches, software updates and hardware upgrades.

11.Work with the Business Continuity Team to refine and test disaster recovery systems and procedures.

12.Work with hardware and software vendors to resolve hardware outages and software defects.

13.Keep current with latest Linux hardware and software technology, and evaluate technologies as needed.
