I passed all the pre-checks as per installation mode and /etc/hosts is having entry for localhost.

young : I am getting the same output if I use :

[ora9_at_vicky admin]$ env | grep ORACLE

ORACLE_SID=db1
ORACLE_BASE=/ora9/app/oracle/product
ORACLE_HOME=/ora9/app/oracle/product/9.2.0
