Yes. I have a client just this week we are moving to 64 bit Oracle Linux that reached a point where Windows, for all intents and purposes, fell over due to their volume. It runs just fine with Linux.

I was discussing this with Microsoft yesterday and we agreed that it might not have been Windows, per se, but rather the quality of Windows Sys Admins. But either way ... the move solved the customer's problem.
