Hi Guy.
I have always ( even in the version 7) had problems runnign oracle on windows. Actually this is the first time I have been able to get to it without having to rebuild my machine so that oracle would run on it. Usually I have everything running on my linux or unix box as well, but the nice thing with this XE is that I can run on my laptop and take it with me. Bit of a problem eith my Linux servers there :-))

I like the 'Oracle "can't" circumvent a firewall. It's only software .....( but then again so are viruses aren't they? :-))

The part of XE that requested server permissions ( trusted and internet) have been granted those albeit reluctantly since it won't run on the internet. :-(

Nop, running Xp Pro here, fully updated. Running all kind og other programs as well ( Visual studio, Delphi, borland Jbuilder, Boinc setiathome, NetExpress of MicroFocus etc, etc, etc. No problems with any of them.

it isn't the address or the port that blocks the gui, it's the privacy settings et all. Even keeping 1 of them in place blocks logon. Robert A. Reissaus Received on Mon Jan 08 2007 - 20:03:44 CST
