  1. Take a look at the output from " select dump(sysdate) from dual; "
  2. Do a search on http://asktom.oracle.com ( Tom Kyte's ) website for sysdate and timestamp
  3. Consider buying and reading Tom Kyte's book. They are a big help to anyone but especially helpful to big learners.
