Thanx for the response.

I do understand and agree with what you are saying but unfortunately this is an enhancement of shifting the existing backend from MS Access to Oracle and the frontend is just tweaked and it will remain linked tables.

The best thing I thought would be to replace the Datatype from CLOB to Varchar2(4000) since I checked the existing Data of that particular column and the maximum length was only 500 characters.

Think changing the Datatype would be the safest approach till the user tries to enter more than 2000 characters.
