I read about RMAN and renaming the database files before but I didn't have the heart to use it and I was sure of that exp/imp should be the way to go. I also tried using OEM and backup/restore but had no luck with the restore. I also had created the database files before but probably the exp command switches were not sufficient enough.

Just for the structure or can things get lost?

OK, thanks for the tips. I'm going to read some articles I found about oracle backup/restore. I wanted to reinstall the system a few times anyway to get some practice.
