I'd add, look at the init.ora requirements in the patch set readme's, if there are any that you haven't set yet you might as well set them and leave them set (aside from any it says to unset after patching, of course). You do want to be running on the latest patch set, 9208.

You will probably want to readjust things using the advisors under a realistic load.

optimizer_index_caching and optimizer_index_cost_adj sometimes don't have good default values, too, depending on the type of application.
