Yes, but you have to allow poor security to do it. See http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/network.102/b14266/admnauth.htm#i1006459

But keep reading on to the Global Authentication section in that manual. If you already have that sort of directory service administered by experts, there you go.
