Leaving out the details that the OP has supplied between how many sessions the new system is ( apparently ) supporting between a small number for the old?

We could all speculate on different things ... not arguing against your point as the OP has already noted that they ( somewhat arbitrarily perhaps ) already increased the SGA size.
