Oracle 10g (XE) won't communicate with Oracle 7; Oracle 8.1.7 is the last release, I believe, which can 'talk' with 7. Oracle 9.2 is the last release which can 'talk' with 8.1.7. So it appears you'll need to have XE talk to 9.2 which will talk to 8.1.7 which will talk to 7, and I can't guarantee how reliable that chain will be. You can't use exp/imp since you cannot import an XE schema/data into 7.

Why are you still using 7?
