i assume you mean "if that's not asking too much". keeping in mind your other criticism-laced thread, im forced to ask the question -- do all "Senior Oracle DBA"s cop as much attitude as you? or just the unhappy ones?

thanks for the link tho. tom seems to answer the original post -- in 9i, one *cannot* simply ALTER the table, one must go thru the process he describes -- adding a new column, copying data, dropping the original column. guess we both learned something new, huh?
