In version 2 or 3 or 4 or 10gR2?
On AIX, HP/UX, Linux, OSX, Solaris?
Standalone? RAC? How many dbwr processes? archive logging?

In addition to you asking the question without providing sufficient information the answer is impossible to provide and it seems a question in search of a purpose. What is the actual issue behind the cryptic question? It might help someone help you.
