Oracle 10g has a problem with Oracle Win ODBC drivers. The regular Oracle ODBC drivers emit a lot of rule directives that is embedded in the code that will make catalog access very slow. Oracle has beta patch for this that they will send through support only. In it there is an option to turn off rule based directives. Oracle does not plan to put out a release (non-beta) version until v11. I found this the hard way. Hope you all don't.

Thanks
