If you want to do it on the REALLY cheap then build a JBOD and install ASM. You might want to look at the ASM White Paper at http://www.psoug.org/downloads.html.

Alternatively, if you want real RAC, I'd hit eBay and purchase a JBOD or NetApp F810. Then all you need is some single proc Pentiums with a Gig of RAM and some Gig switches.
