Stone tablets are not really fashionable these days. They are very durable, but even they can vanish, like the two from Mt. Sinai. There is a movie called "Raiders of the lost ark" about an attempt to rediscover the box used to house them once. If the movie is to be believed, that box is hopelessly lost in some military warehouse.
