Oracle 10G Data Guard

I have some questions regarding data guard can anyone help. I have setup a data guard environment using sql commands.

Production Instance Standby

Node1                        Node2

The logs are shipping and being applied correctly.

Question

Can I use DB Console to view and administer both environments? (there is an option but it does not recognize the standby instance as it is undiscovered).
I tried to setup DG Broker and keep getting error that it cannot find the standby instance, is there anything special I need to perform as the setup is already shipping logs and applying to the standby instance correctly.
