bulk dumping?

Is there a way in oracle 9i to bulk-dump data into a flat file? some
sort of "SELECT INTO OUTFILE '/path/to/datafile'"? i tried to search
for the syntax on oracle site and the net for a couple of hours and
couldn't seem to find anything except for a recommended usage of
sqlplus + spool....thanks much.
