Not really. It is maybe only about seven years since we all were buing hard drives for just the same money per GB. The only problem is that at that time one gigabyte of capacity meant something. However, I expect that in a few years, SSDs are going to be cost effective for many applications. We just have to give early adopters enough time to bleed sufficiently for new technology implementation costs. :-)
