The same blurg about statistics being required and 3 hours till written
that appears in the 9.2 manual entry I referenced also appears in Ch 14
of the 10g R2 DBA Administrators Guide under the topic, Automatically
Collecting Statistics on Tables, so I suspect you need to run
dbms_stats on the table and wait.
