Hi all,

Can anybody tell me how the database ID is "generated" SQL> select DBID from v$database;

      DBID

SQL> I'm just wondering how this number/ID is made up, or what it is composed of.

As you can see below we are on a database 9.2.0.7 (on AIX 5.2) SQL> select banner from v$version;

BANNER



Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.7.0 - 64bit Production PL/SQL Release 9.2.0.7.0 - Production
CORE 9.2.0.7.0 Production
