Basically what I want to do is copy or duplicate a databse and rename it to a different name. I have a complete backup of my database that I want to duplicate. I thought I could just do a backup control file to trace of the database I want to duplicate, then startup nomount with mynew pfile on the new database and then run the create controlfile script. But then it said the database name does not match that in the system.dbf. I should have remembered that.

So how can I create a duplicate copy of my database with a different instance name?
Thanks for your help. Received on Tue Feb 07 2006 - 17:07:24 CST
