Hardly call David's response a spank. Mild sarcasm at worst. Certainly better than an "MVP" advocating a windows box with untested db software to record a TB/day.

The basic paradigm for usenet is people post answers and others comment or correct if necessary. "Crazed hate mongers" doesn't describe this group at all, except maybe in some trollish spam or xposted threads. And even there, it's still relatively mild, compared to say, um, current events.
