Oracle Installer Question

Hey All,

Actually this may not be an Oracle question, but I encountered the error when installing Oracle 10g.

I received the following error message:

"can't connect to X11 windows server"

I read some posts and someone suggested to run the following:

$ xhost +localhost

And the installer worked fine. My question is: what does that command actually do? I mean, how does it affect the display to get the installer to work? I'm a bit curious.....
